Why do I always repeat the same dance routine?馃槥

In a salsa social we all get used to repeat many movements and figures, and it鈥檚 something completely natural. But, sometimes we realize that depending on what situation we are only able to do a dance routine, or maybe two, and this makes us feel disappointed and bored 馃槥. We think 芦I always do the same禄.

Salsa Dance Moves has a section to solve the problem 芦same dance routine禄.

What do we find on the Salsa Dance Moves website?

Obviously we’ll find many videos representing many different salsa moves, with a great variety of styles.

In order to display these movements in a classified way, drawings are used to show the different positions that a salsa dance couple can adopt while dancing salsa.

Therefore these drawings, representing the different positions that dance couples usually take, are the path that will lead us to the salsa moves videos. They are the tool that will allow the movements to be classified and will shape the video library of salsa moves.

When you click on one of theses drawings representing an initial position of a move, you will find different possible moves to continue dancing.

A drawing of a dance couple, representing the initial positon of a salsa move

In the drawing above you can see a dance couple in a usual position dancing salsa. Here it will be an initial position of a movement.

In the lower left part of the drawing there are some numbers, specifically 51/2006. These digits indicate that, at this moment, in Salsa Dance Moves there are 2006 movements, of which 51 start with this same dance position.

But, these 51 moves can have:

  • different ending position
  • same ending position, but different dance routine
  • same dance routine, but different dance style or different dancers

Let鈥檚 see several salsa routines

We are going to carry out the example using as initial position the one indicated in the drawing above.

So, the video below is one of these 51 short dance moves you can find.

Let’s end the dance routine

As you can see there are many different ways to get out of the same starting position. Here we have only shown 3 of a specific starting position. But on Salsa Dances Moves website you can find many more. Some of them will have a different process and some will have a different style.

To finish we are going to see how two great dancers do 6 different movements with the same starting position. All of them in the same dance. It is clear that for them there is no dance routine.
